“La Voisin” the matchmaker and the assassin?

Most of the time her clients were concerned with all things that dealt in the fickle thing known as love. With her growing popularity as a fortune-teller and a midwife would grow so would the importance of the people she provided services for. One of if not her most important patrons was Madame de Montespan. Montespan was the official hoe or I guess more politically correct “mistress” to then current king of France, King Louis XIV. The purpose of Montespan’s dealings with La Voisin were often about the goal of winning the sole love of her king. These little crybaby sessions were done through the use of Montespans friend, Claude de Vin des Œillets.

Some time during the year 1667, Montespan would ask La Voisin to perform what is known as a “Black Mass,” in hopes of winning over the heart of her king. After the black mass was preformed and she became the main hoe excuse me, the “official mistress, to the king she would then call upon the services of La Voisin any time there was a bump in Montespan’s and the Kings “relationship.” As one would guess when looking at the relationship between ,a jealous mistress and a King with a not give a damn attitude, there were multiple bumps in their relationship.

One of these bumps happened in the year 1673, Montespan began to notice her lovers declining interest in her. Whenever she noticed this she then turned to “La Voisin” for her help. What “La Voisin” did to rid Montespan of her growing concern was that she again organized “Black Masses” while also providing Montespan with an aphrodisiac in hopes of winning back the affection of the king.

Montespan informed “La Voisin” that if the King were to ever leave her then she would employ “La Voisin” to assassinate the King. Whenever the King decided to further his relationship with another woman, Montespan called upon the services of “La Voisin” in hopes of exacting her revenge on the King. “La Voisin” devised a plan that was to poison a petition letter and present it to the King. Some time in the year 1677 “La Voisin’s” plan to assassinate the King  would be a lost cause because on that day there were too many petitioners and the King would never receive his “just desserts.” This would not be the last attempt by “La Voisin” on King Louis XIV life.
